It would appear that the latest bump in the road to peace in Colombia is about to be cleared and the derailed peace-process resumed between the country's government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC.) Although no time has been set, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos announced that operations are already on course to release General Ruben Dario Alzate, who was recently captured by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and four other people being held by the leftist guerrilla group. There are rumors of a possible 36-hour cease fire between the government and the rebels in order to ease the prisoner transfer, but nothing has been confirmed, and the unconditional bilateral ceasefire requested by the FARC has been rejected by the government since 2012. The Red Cross of Colombia has agreed to help facilitate the prisoner transfer, but due to the inhospitable nature of the territory, assigning timeline is a practical impossibility. teleSUR
