In Nr. Snede, Denmark in 1933, Anna and Marinus Kjeldsen started a bakery, and appropriately called it Kjeldsens. The bakerys cookies became known for their distinctive aroma and delicious flavor. Anna would ride her bike, a means of transportation still used in Denmark today, from grocery store to grocery store in the surrounding villages and towns to sell their trademark Danish Butter Cookies. A lot has happened since Anna rode her bicycle from town to town. The company, now called Kelsen, ships tin containers of cookies around the world to more than 120 countries, packaged just the way Anna did seventy five years ago. Here in the USA, the Kelsen Danish Butter Cookies are a holiday season favorite.
