FARC admits holding general, but willing to seek solution

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) admitted on Tuesday that it was holding Colombian General Ruben Dario Alzate but said it is willing to seek a solution with the government and called for peace talks to be resumed. Rebel negotiator Pablo Catatumbo that in the absence of a cease-fire, rejected by the government, incidents were bound to occur, but that a sensible solution should be sought. He repeated a question the government has thus far not answered, namely, what was the general doing in rebel held territory with no security protection.
