Protests target G20 leaders summit

Burying their heads in the sand -- protesters say that's been the attitude of the Australian government on climate change.

Leaders from the world's major economies are arriving to attend the G20 summit, so hundreds on Bondi beach grabbed the opportunity to demand a limit on carbon emissions.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED PARTICIPANT IN PROTEST SAYING:

"It's a critical issue and Australia is well off the pace on climate change, so every little bit of action like this helps."

...But it's not the only demonstration in town.

In Brisbane, where the summit's held, caricatures of leaders from the U.S., Germany and the UK draw attention to the widening gap between the rich and poor.

The stunt's been organised by anti-poverty campaigners from Oxfam.
