NYPD officials are investigating a jewelry heist that occurred in broad daylight on Veteran’s Day. Dispatchers received a call at about 2:30 p.m. alerting them of a gunpoint robbery near Fifth Avenue.

Surveillance footage captured one of the suspects walking down the sidewalk just prior to the crime. He was well-dressed and appeared to be a businessman but in actuality he was the gunman.

The other man was also caught on camera, dressed casually in jeans. William Aubrey, the Chief of Manhattan Detectives stated “The suspects came up to the 8th floor, suspect number one buzzed his way in, and he posed as a delivery man. Suspect number two remained in the hallway.”

According to the four employees who were inside of the jewelry store, both men then entered the business and demanded property. The staffers complied with the robbers and they were able to successfully flee the scene.

They made off with approximately $2 million of stolen jewelry and watches. A 56-year-old year man was reportedly pistol whipped during the robbery.

The NYPD is now investigating whether or not a rival store owner had anything to do with the crime. The owner of the targeted shop has said that none of the stolen items were insured.
