Eight people injured in protests over palm plantations

For the third day running, Guatemalan peasant farmers continue to protest about the effects they are experiencing as a result of African Palm oil plantations. Small farmers are demanding that the government step in to protect their communities from water contamination and other negative effects caused by the large scale plantations. Eight members of Small Farmer Unity committees were injured when they clashed with police yesterday. teleSUR
