The group had been venturing from Dublin, Ireland to Berlin, Germany when the plane reportedly plummeted approximately 15,000 feet to the ground.
Fortunately the aircraft landed safely and there were no injuries.
Two suitcases were lost as a result. German authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the hatch came off.
Bono had been headed to Berlin for the Bambi Awards when the plane ride took a turn for the worse. He and his band were being honored at the event and a performance was scheduled.
After safely landing, Bono met with Germany’s representative for the Ebola fight to have a discussion about the disease.
