Cricket supporter Andrew McCullouch on Tuesday November 11 won almost $4,000 (NZ$ 5,000) for catching a ball during a match between the Otago Volts and the Wellington Firebirds in the New Zealand city of Hamilton.

McCullouch was watching the game with his partner, sitting on a hill at Hamilton’s Seddon Park, when Otago Volts batsman Michael Bracewell launched a ball over the fence. The barefoot fan ran towards the ball and plucked it out of the air, catching it with one hand.

The game’s commentator and former New Zealand wicket keeper Ian Smith yelled: “He’s got it, he’s got it, he’s got it, you champion,” before announcing that this crowd catch was worth $4,000 (NZ$ 5,000).
