Seeing long lines outside of stores in the early morning hours of Black Friday is a typical sight. Two shoppers in Beaumont, California, however, are getting a head start.
Vicky Torres and Juanita Alva set up their makeshift camp outside of a local Best Buy last Wednesday. The women are stocked up for their stay.
They have chairs, blankets, mittens snacks and hot coffee. They take turns sleeping outside of the store each night and save the other’s place in line.
They even have a backup plan in the event they both have to leave at the same time. If that is the case, Alva's husband, Jacob will step in to save their spots.
Jacob remarked “On a fixed income, this is a great way to buy Christmas presents. I just provide support. Things like food, charge cell phones, bathroom breaks.”
When Black Friday rolls around, Alva and Torres are hoping to be the first ones through the door to pick up a 50-inch, high-definition TV for $199.
Last year, Torres and a man named Mike Pinon waited outside the same Best Buy store and missed out on their family Thanksgiving dinners to land some bargains.
