100 catcalls: Princess Leia suffers street harrassment as the controversial video gets a Star Wars makeover
While Shoshanna Roberts’ original ‘100 catcalls’ video had a serious point to make, that hasn’t stopped the collective minds having a bit of fun.
And while many of the parody versions didn’t quite hit the mark, we couldn’t help having a sneaky chuckle at this version – which gives the controversial clip a Star Wars makeover.
Thus we have Princess Leia – complete with costume and iconic hairdo – walking the streets of New York while being ‘harrassed’ by stormtroopers, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and pretty much anyone else from the Star Wars universe.
The original video featured Shoshanna, filmed by her boyfriend Rob Bliss, walking the streets of New York enduing catcalls and unwarranted attention from men.
However it later suffered a backlash after Bliss admitted a lot of the white men featured in the clip had been edited out – leaving predominantly black or Latino men who had made comments.
