El Salvadorans commemorated the 25th anniversary of the "Hasta el Tope y Punto" (To the Finish) offensive, a critical military action during the Salvadoran Civil War. The action brought the fighting into the wealthy suburbs of the capital, San Salvador, and forced both the Salvadoran military dictatorship and the US government to negotiate a political solution to the conflict.
