Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina, announced that those who were affected by the violence surrounding the construction of Chixoy dam in the 80's would be beneficiaries of compensation. Achi Mayans refused to give up their traditional lands and so the state began a terror campaign to force them from their lands using extrajudicial executions and illegal evictions- all funded by the dam project sponsors, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. teleSUR
