Forever cursed to an evil fate
I was walking down the triple roads at a fast paced rate
I saw a man with his band
and as he struck me with his hand
and I who was just a pedestrian
slew them like a barbarian
for since we had a failure to communicate
the signs pointed later to indicate
that he was my dad
and I would be so sad
I blinded myself and resigned myself to living a cursed life
for I had fulfilled that which was laid upon me
that which I failed miserably
to escape from
"Alas Alas" the city cries
Alas for Oedipus Rex
Who of all our townsmen gazed not on his fame with envious eyes?
Now, in what a sea of troubles sunk and overwhelmed he lies!
Therefore wait to see life's ending before thou count one mortal blest;
Wait till free from pain and sorrow he has gained his final rest.
I killed my father and married my mother
when she should have married another
I sullied my family name
and put myself to shame
the prophet warned that it would be this way
after I tried so hard to make him say
who the killer really was
"Alas Alas" the city cries
Alas for Oedipus Rex
Who of all our townsmen gazed not on his fame with envious eyes?
Now, in what a sea of troubles sunk and overwhelmed he lies!
Therefore wait to see life's ending before thou count one mortal blest;
Wait till free from pain and sorrow he has gained his final rest.
