The end of another year
The last as sad as ever
The older you get the same they are
Except for grandchildrens pleasures
Seeing out the last
Bringing in the new
Resolutions not held up
Friends lost; well just the two.
Auld lang syne again
Hope and smiles and making merry
Same old faces cordial exchanges
Grandparents getting into the sherry.
Looking forward to it just the same
See if we can find someone to blame
When the resolutions fail again
Do you get my drift y'ken.
