Keli Mims - Penguin Love

2014-11-10 216

(originally written June 19th 2011)
Male penguins scour the Earth for one little pebble,
A perfect one, for someone special.
Giving the pebble as a sign of love,
Something useless to us, for them is enough.
With the little rock, it's up to fate,
If she accepts they're forever mates.
For the rest of their lives they're together,
A love that as time goes, grows better.
It's simple, strange, yet it's enough,
Isn't it beautiful, penguin love?

You are my penguin, no need of a pebble,
Because this, me, you, is special.
All I need is your reassuring word,
Asking for anything else would be absurd.
Why can't we be together eternally,
What if we were meant for eternity?
You said I'm your penguin if I wished to be called so,
But then said that to you I'd be your Cielo.
With that, the use of that meaningful word,
I don't need to be a pretty and flightless bird,
If I can be your heaven.
