I once loved a man who could not love me back
Not even if he did love me
I loved his eyes
How they hid behind his glasses
I loved how he would say my name
in utter frustration
When I could not understand him
I love how he laughed at me
And how he joked
And I loved him
Though I wouldn’t let it show.
He may have loved me back
But there’s no way to know.
For our love cannot be
Though I love him still
And if he reads this now
He may even know
That I am talking of him.
And even if he can tell to me ‘I love you’
He and I both know it cannot be
So as I say this now,
to a man that I love
A man
who can't love me back....
I love you
I always have.
