Sitting by the fire,
Back pressed against the trunk of this tall deciduous
In the cool of summer’s breeze
It is here that I emerge in unavoidable thought.
I twirl this pen between my teeth,
I ponder and I think
In such conditions my incentive has fled;
I have squandered the better usage of my words.
And though the sky be clear tonight,
And the fire sparks and thrives,
Surely, I can find the merit in this moment;
I have everything and yet nothing more to say.
