Juan Olivarez - Big Bear

2014-11-10 5

We went up to Big Bear,
Up the ice covered roads.
We went up in the sky, up in the air,
climbing high like mountain goats.

The beauty that my eyes beheld,
The snow drifting, through the pines,
My heart beating fast, so hard to quell,
Mountain air, so cold and fine.

A blanket of snow, covered the land,
And the sky cried snowflakes, all around,
I rubbed pine needles, with my hands,
And dropped them, on the frozen ground.

My frozen hands, picking pine cones,
My wife making angels, in the snow,
This is so beautiful, and far from home,
But there's no place else, I want to go.

My son putting snow chains, on his Dodge,
While a blizzard, roared all around,
Then we had dinner, at a steak house lodge,
Up there in that quaint, little mountain town.

I've seen wonders all my life,
The good Lord has been kind to me.
And I got to see them with the love of my life.
And people who are dear to me.

Thanks to our son, Staff Sgt. Diego Olivarez and my daughter in law Mercedes, for this wonderful experiance.
