They were in love
Two hearts forever joined
He split them apart
Tears marked their broken paths
They couldn’t stand the separation
She needed to see him
She wanted to come to him
She needed to hear his voice
He knew she couldn’t drive
She knew she had to try
She got into the car
She didn’t make it very far
He got a phone call
Her dad blamed him
He didn’t understand
What had happened
When her dad told him
His hand broke the phone
Tears fell from his eyes
He felt so alone
He wasn’t allowed
To see her laid to rest
He waited forever
‘Til her family left
He laid a black rose
Upon her grave
His tears fell like raindrops
Showing his love
He’ll never forget
He’ll always regret
Not saving her
But he’ll live on
He knows she’s safe
She’s in a better place
And eventually their broken paths
Will cross once again.
