There was not
a single human
being
in the house.
A month began
&...ended.
As if Time
meant...nothing.
Finally the aliens
decided to make
themselves known.
Their disguise
as curtains
had fooled everyone
including the great man
himself
who unthinkingly brought them
together at night
parted them
come morning.
They had observed
him for a week
(what he knew
about them)
what he was
about to reveal.
Now the great man
lay crumpled
at the bottom
of a deep deep well
in his own
overgrown grounds.
The aliens
(the Curtainers)
invaded everywhere
living happily
among humans
without anyone
being any the wiser.
The skeleton
at the bottom of the deep deep well
has forgotten
it ever was a great great man.
