He had paid
no attention
to the smell
of fear in the air
an ounce more
of danger
the slight shift of
tension
the tiny crab now
pinching the air
angrily & with
growing desperation
as he rattled around
the bright blue hole
that had loomed
out of nowhere
swallowed him whole
stealing the world.
He appeared to be
attached to
the little laughter
of the giant hand
holding it tightly
as it ran...ran
to its “Mummy...Mummy! ”
“Look...look...I’ve
captured a monster! ”
“Moi...the monster! ”
scowled and scuttled
the crab now
beside itself.
Crab couldn’t
believe its good luck
when it heard the “Mummy...Mummy! ” giant
tell the “Little girl” giant
“Lovely darling! ”
“Now...shall we
put this magnificent monster
back into
the sea
before its Mummy
misses it? ”
“Yes...let’s! ”
Suddenly amidst
squeals & laughter
he was emptied
out onto sand
and ran and ran
towards the sweet voice
of the sea
whisking him away to
...safety.
