The Accused Stood Before Them
Silent, To Their Attacks
Even When They Brought Forth
Mistakes, Or Perjured Facts
The Accused Stood Among Them
Self-Restrained and Bound
Head Held High, Yet Humble
Uttering Not A Sound
For What Could Be Said
Had Already Been Spoken
Sworn By The Holy Book
The Oath, Could Not Be Broken
So, The Accused, Quietly Stood
Composed In Innocence
Whose Fate Would Be Decided
By Other’s Ignorance
So On The Trial Went
Just How They Knew It Would
Justice, Would Not Be Served
The Accused, Fully Understood
The So-Called Jury of Peers
Did Not Believe Any Proof
When The Accused Finally Spoke
And Explained With Perfect-Truth
And So Verdict, Was Left-Handed
In A Lop-Sided Judgment
‘Guilty’! … Beat Their Hammer
… in Wrongful, Corporal Punishment
Yes, They Hung The Accused
Penalty For A Heinous Crime
That Was Not Even His …
But Theirs, and Yours and Mine …
