Herbert Nehrlich 2 - A Different Drummer

A radiograph can be an epitaph of sorts,
they took one of my heart just yesterday,
the doc said that in men the black and white distorts
and depth ain't near the surface, as they say.

Mine showed the presence of a shadow in the heart,
two pointed things and all in all twas pretty round,
no edges and no fuzziness, but a peculiar dart
seemed to belong to it, well friends that's what they found.

An MRI was done to ascertain the truth,
and there it was, the riddle quickly solved,
technicians gathered, one of them said STREWTH,
I should have guessed my love, you were involved.

They found you in my heart, it should have been...well, understood,
to operate would be the end of both of us for sure,
so may I ask politely, Sweetie, if you would
stay in my heart forever, it would have to be the cure.

I've named you Valentine to show you that I care,
it fits you nicely and it sounds like Italy,
how strange and wonderful for us to truly share
one love-filled heart, a little drum for you and me.
