Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain Sunday reiterated his party’s stance that creation of new provinces is in the interest of people.

“People of Hazara have long been raising their voice for a new province but no one is ready to listen to their calls,” Altaf Hussain said while addressing a general workers meeting of MQM’s Punjabi-Siraiki Organizing committee.

He said in order to run the government in an effective manner it is imperative to form new provinces which will be in the interest of people.

He wondered as to why those, who can’t get tired speaking in favor of democracy, put in place local bodies system in the country. “With the introduction of LB system along with creation of new provinces, the feudal system will die its own death,” he argued.

Altaf Hussain asked whether it is possible for a primary level student to get admission in a college. “LB system represents the first step towards democracy, thus, in its absence it is impossible to take the process to the secondary level,” he said.

He paid rich tribute to Allama Iqbal on the day of his birth anniversary, saying the poet of the East believed in religious harmony. “Allama Iqbal never hated people on the basis of their religious beliefs,” he said.
