Two rows
of boys
sitting on
their bottoms
appear to be rowing
furiously against the odds
their invisible boat
forms around them
only the rain
is for real
a bigger boy
stands out upon the prow
as if he were
legendary.
The girls
stand out
by the side
throwing kisses
and every now
and then
raising their dresses
showing off their knickers.
Time stands still
I can't tell
if I am passing
the imaginary boat
or it is passing me.
A mother calls
one of the sirens in
and she goes in
sulking.
'Ahhhh...Ma
we was only playing
Odysseus! '
