sitting in my mothers chair
pain is etched everywhere
feeling the aches and pains
that she must go through
living in her solitude.
a house is not a home
if no one picks up the phone.
a telephone call is all she asks
it's not much of a task.
staring at the pictures of her
grand childrens faces.
recalling when she was younger
with no lines or traces.
that old age would soon appear.
it was something that she did not fear.
now her medical problems have gotten worse
she is more or less an invalid, and needs a nurse.
this is something that she always feared
the burden upon her children, far and near.
yet there is something that she does not realize.
that all her children love her
and will always be close by.
