Milica Franchi De Luri - My last autumn

2014-11-10 6

This poem was written by my father Peter Traykoski one week before he died from pancreatic cancer on 17 April 2001

The leaves on the trees have changed color
Red and yellow leaves are falling to the ground
When the green returns
I will not be around.

I've died thousand deaths before
With every dead solder in the world war
I've died with my father and mother
I've died a little with my young brother
I've died twice with my son,
then with sadness in my heart
Again my life began

Now it is time to say good by
It is time to die the last death,
I am not ashamed to admit
Few tears i have shed.

Good by life
Good by seasons
Good by day and night
My body has no more might
Good by wife, sons and daughter
The angel of death has come for my slaughter
