hasmukh amathalal - Lying in bed

2014-11-10 0

She was lying in bed
Tubes around and artificially fed
Speechless as if gripped with cold
Calm but determined and looked bold

Was it pain or anger?
Unhappiness or hunger?
Disease, fatigue or discomfort
needed solace and strong support

I looked tired and pale
what could I do for her to console?
I was utterly helpless
Efforts made were more but result was less

Memory took me back several years
She whispered gently and I could hear
She slept on bed without fear
Happiness on face without a tear

She was gorgeous with the entire smile
I was simply mesmerized for a while
I was ducking to show her warm love
I starred at her as lover dove

All thoughts came to an abrupt halt
As if somebody was rubbing salt
Wounds were aggravating with deep pain
Her sickness was the worry main

She always smiled and prayed Lords
Stood at door with welcoming words
She never complained or expressed regret
Eager to compromise and ready to forget,

Such a noble soul was undergoing pain
All my efforts were proving in vain
Will she recover and be talking again?
Smile with consciousness without pain

Let my years be added to her life
Lived up to expectation as good wife
Life was difficult to walk on edge of knife
she acted wise even when situation was not rife

One has to part when time has run out
Victory may sometimes result into rout
All we can do is to pray and bow to almighty
Shower with blessings to come out of pity
