Ages and ages of days and nights
Have got alternated under this light pole.
These four roads have merged here
A million times day in and day out.
This light pole gives me*
the cover of the dark:
Yes, I am begging;
Begging and begging
the whole world that passes by me
‘see men, this is the way of God’
He puts on the guise of a beggar
And sits under a light pole.
Ages and ages of days and nights
Have got alternated under this light pole.
No one has ever seen anyone at all
Who've been here; during day or night.
What’re these cross road and the light pole?
One is the way of the mortal, the other? Of God! ! !
