john tiong chunghoo - 'Houses'—so the Wise Men tell me

2014-11-10 0

this house of mine's
keyed to the world
its pleasure, its dismay
seventy two beats
to get me on my toes
the world's played out
in red blood passion
a hell, a heaven,
ecstasy, depression,
pleasure, pain
it does not take much
space for a full theatre
to run in full steam
in this house of mine
a heart and a head
are all i need
and by trades of these -
the whole world runs

inspired by

'Houses'—so the Wise Men tell me
'Houses'—so the Wise Men tell me—
'Mansions'! Mansions must be warm!
Mansions cannot let the tears in,
Mansions must exclude the storm!
'Many Mansions, ' by 'his Father, '
I don't know him; snugly built!
Could the Children find the way there—
Some, would even trudge tonight!
