'Dammit Sir - I won't'
Slow explosions of unfurling ferns
As green as spring
The wood thrushes have returned
Fluting arpeggios
Never the same
This year
Billions of Brood X periodical cicadas
Wait
Just beneath the surface
Coiled
A vast genetic spring
About to take wing
Sing
Swap genes
Sting trees
And die
