UN cuts thousands of Syrian families from aid

Some Syrian families in refugee camps in Jordan have received text messages from the UN saying they are no longer eligible for food assistance from the UN’s World Food Programme.

Up to 12,000 families have recently been excluded from the food voucher programme after the organisation said it had made the decision because others have a greater need.
The families say they do not have enough money to buy the food they need in order to survive and are not allowed to work in Jordan to earn a salary.
