In the corner of the donut shop I remember him
Philadelphia’s gem merchant extraordinaire
Whose advertising visage haunted national magazines
Scion of separate fortune
Despite our shared loved for parts of Shakespeare
He had so much and I so little,
I feared him without cause.
He would approve my morning corner
Watching the mensch in woodland, purple and mail uniform blue
In heaven
Not even needing the mention of his name.
