light sneaks (through a broken window
& slits a splintered shutter
sifting through filter
of cobwebs and dust)
into the upper room
an angel could be roaming darkness for years
before she is
illumined &
shares salvation with the fallen
& spirit-starved
Jesus stood amid storms and thunder
prior to the lightning crack
that whipped across Jerusalem
on the night of betrayal -
the pain of it was light flooding the eye
quick as the kiss & blinding
his soul -
phosphorous -
leaned on doom
as if
it were a doorpost of passover
