I grew up in ‘60's and attended Our Lady Queen of Apostles grade school,
Where we had Baltimore Catechisms,
-the book furthered the schism of Christians,
We were young at before Ecumenical II we thought of ourselves holy and cool,
Pagan Babies were the ones that we fed our dimes to,
Among the slots made for only dimes, not pennies or nickels, quarters are too much,
And Cardinal Dearden, the head of the Detroit Diocese,
Considered us his flock but how things change,
And a perversion set it and sets schism within Catholic churches and such.
Now the Baltimore Catechism is no more in its original form,
Instead a new book informs children of potential abuses by their priest or pastor,
Children ask St. Michael for guidance, he surely gives a saintly look,
As they color him with crayons in their book,
For decades the church had hidden them, moving the ones that were guilty,
Around like pawns on a chess board,
Ecumenical II is forty plus years gone,
times changed,
We are not little altar boys no more,
The dimes the church paid out in lawsuits were quadrillions in number*,
But not pagan babies but to plaintiffs that were abused by priests,
But for some that was not good enough, some sought vengeance,
Cardinal Roger Mahoney,
the shepherd of the Diocese of Los Angeles,
Found this out when of his flock,
Was a person seeking him out,
Cardinal Mahoney though not molested,
he was attacked,
He was lucky he wasn't killed let there be no doubt.
