Uriah Hamilton - Beautiful With Sadness

2014-11-08 1

Dawn departures
In the rain,
Bus terminal kisses
For long journeys
With arrested love,
Delicate poetry crawls
Down along lonely and dirty avenues.

In afternoon restaurants,
We gather ourselves
Like parking meter coins
Or a waitress’ tips
And still come up short
With our meager ambitions.

At dusk,
A serenade from birds,
This life is beautiful with sadness.
