What you see and what you know
Is not the truth, just what I show
A gentle voice, a caring ear
A confidant to share your fears
A loyal friend with loving heart
But all of that, I'm playing the part
If the windows of the soul are found in the eyes
Mine are tinted with careful lies
For my true self was spawned from the dark
A human shell with a demon's spark
I shouldn't say I lack a soul
But rather mine's as black as coal
I feast on the fear you willingly share
While wearing the guise of someone who cares
And dire screams flavored with pain
Is a sound to be savored again and again
You've told me your dreams, so I know what to say
To open your heart without delay
So can you look beyond my smile
To see the shadows and dreams most vile?
For if you can't, and let me inside
You are mine with nowhere to hide
