Tara McH - Anglesey awaited

2014-11-08 1

Two people sitting on the side of a bath
in an hotel in Anglesey; and the Sid James-esque laughs
coming from me
were perhaps unappealing
yet rather revealing
that you and I
need not try
to entertain each other.

Just to laugh with another
and more so with one's lover
before falling into bed
instead
of the roses and candlelit dinners
is all I would ask for,
... what could be more?

(Except, ahem, perhaps sometimes:
and, please, do not forget the wine) .

Hobbling to breakfast,
after, at last,
I had dived into the sea
(too shallow - look what it did to me)
laughing with ourselves, laughing with others...
yet observing, in sadness, here comes another
couple who will never feel as we do:

(let that never be me,
let that never be you) .

If one can drive through green-drenched hills,
singing along with the CD until
the voice
is hoarse
the imagination flowing,
skin glowing,
eyes shining,
that moment of finding
complete and utter bliss
is a moment I will miss

until Angelsey awaits again,
or any other place...
any other space....

be it when.
