Leo Yankevich - Grass

2014-11-08 1

Before they built this mall and palace
I flourished longer than the clouds
remember; but it wasn’t malice
caused me to be replaced by crowds.

I rise again in clear defiance,
wait till the ordinance rescinds,
spread into the cracks of silence,
blind seed scattered by the winds.

I hold out till the end of malls,
rise when the shopper ties his laces,
wait till the palace busts and falls.
Then I will cover names and faces.
