I just got relaxed when she tugged at my sleeve.
'Mamma, mamma, when can we leave? '
With hopeful eyes that seemed to shout,
'Mamma, mamma, when can we go out? '
So we got in the car and started to drive.
To the pond in the woods where the ducks thrive.
My little girl, she loves those birds,
I can tell by her face she is lost for words.
Her sweet little face all scrunched with joy.
Why can't she be happy with a teddy or a toy?
The ducks came round and started to quack.
It was then I realised why we had to go back.
My girl hadn't realised and giggled like mad.
I bit my lip, if I told her now she'd be really sad.
In a panic I thought of an excuse in my head.
How was I to tell her I'd forgotten the bread? !
