To live each day and not forget
A day that has gone by,
To seek the answer that you get
From memory’s prisoned sigh -
For life goes on though life seem done
And deemed of little worth,
And one will wake when morn has come;
Her cycles plague the earth.
When spirit, stopped up in despair,
Would rend the very soul,
The heart that is too pained to care
Seeks refuge in the cold-
The anesthesia of the rock
Too heavy to be borne
Will wear off as the years go by
And lighter will become.
For even as the oceans
Will wear away a stone,
Time mellows the emotions
To help the pain be borne.
