I looked outside my window into the night,
On the street I saw a child cowering with fright.
My heart went out to the troubled soul,
With nothing but a ragged old shawl.
Isnt there anyone who can see his pain?
'Why? ', I ask the almighty, 'What is his fault? ',
Two drops of tear and a curse on fate,
And i turn to sleep to end my day!
I look out of my window on a Wintry morning,
Out on the street was the same child, wailing.
While all other children sang in happiness,
I saw his face that was lined with loneliness.
The pain on his face cut through me like ice,
'Why? ', i ask the Almighty, 'Is this justice? '.
I turn my face from the window to cry in silence,
And walk off to my own life of blissful happiness.
I look out of my window on a rainy evening,
With the clouds rumbling and a spark of lightning,
Far off i see a child running, lost in the rain,
With his wails soundin loud through the thundering rain.
My complaint to the Almighty stopped mid way,
When i realised it was my own Child trying to find his way.
With a cry of shock i run all the way to his side,
And took him away to the safe world inside.
I looked at my son as he sat before me,
And there i saw the content of being near me.
It was then when i realised what it means,
To be loved, to be cared and to live your dreams.
Crying for justice will not mend the sorrow,
It is us who can give them a better tomorrow.
I rushed out to the road and saw the same child,
Held him close to my heart with all my might.
Shivering, he gave me the best gift yet,
A smile! That i will never forget.
