Apathetic tendencies
fall upon the best of us,
Yet I'm not really sure
why they've fallen upon me.
I'm certainly not the best,
and far from the worst,
but instead find myself
stuck somewhere in between.
It's quite possible however,
that housed inside
this tired brain,
is the recollection
of a cut so deep
that apathy
was its only
relief.
