I wish the cold would melt to spring
When colours of the season bring,
A joy that autumn took away
And left me there alone that day,
For while the land so bleak and plain
I'll never feel that joy again,
Forever winter it shall be
Until that time releases me.
From this sentence that I live
So much I have but cannot give,
For no one now does seem to care
Imprisoned by my own despair,
A light may gleam within the sky
And yet it soon shall fade and die,
Not strong enough so it could last
Nor wipe the memories of my past.
For winter seems to have no end
Nor offers me a lasting friend,
When wind does blow a bitter chill
The restless air is never still,
I wish for me the sun would shine
To warm this lonely heart of mine,
As I await the ice to thaw
When frozen streams shall flow once more.
