Smiling prettily in front of the mirror
Placing a crown of woven flowers
Among carefully combed curls
Attaining a posture that empowers
Walking into the freshness of the day
Hearing the song that free birds sing
Wearing a dress with ruffles and bows
Enjoying the marvels of a joyous spring
Returning home…passing a diamond
Enhanced with emerald green grass
Hanging her delicate frock in the closet
Putting on jeans and a T-shirt at last
A brimmed baseball cap firmly flattens
The girlish traces of feminine familiarity
With enthusiasm she bounds to the field
Soon the crack of the bat rings with clarity
