In the paddock above the ocean the butcherbird pipes on a wattle tree
And the huge surf waves can be seen rolling from the cliffs where the land meets the sea
And above the din of the high tide the sea birds wild cries one can hear
Even when I am far from saltwater the saltwater to my heart is near.
Where the land meets the sea the air is cleaner the freshness of the saltwater spray
I will always return to the sea shore though from it I may live far away
I envy those who live near the ocean they are lucky would you not agree
The sea air is clean and so healthy and the best things in life they are free.
The soft pipings of the sooty oystercatchers with orange bills birds as big and as black as a crow
the mewing of the silver gulls and the hoarse calls of the black backed gulls by their voices the sea birds one know
The amazing sight of the fishing gannets with folded wings they plunge into the waves from a great height
To see them rise out of the ocean is surely a marvellous sight.
Some people love to live near mountains and others love to live in places even more remote
Scenic beauty inspires the Landscape artist and magnifies the imagination of the poet
And others are coastal people by nature and one day their bones will rest in the cemetery
That overlooks the timeless ocean in a place near where the land meets the sea.
