Cathleen Hodgkinson - The Touch

2014-11-07 5

You gave me your touch, you held me so close.
So soft, so gentle, and I hardly know who you are.

You gave me your touch, you held me so close.
You startled and overwhelmed me,
but somehow I succumbed to you and I desired more.

You gave me your touch, you held me so close.
You gave me what I've longed for.
Could anyone have given me the same? Or just you?
Was it a cruel trick of fantasy?

You gave me your touch, you held me so close.
Did our souls intertwine for a brief instant...for forever?
Was the touch meant to be a memory?
A memory that will continue a perpetual longing?

The thunder rumbles, lightning streaks the night sky.
As I stand alone, caressed by the light rain.
I look far in the distance of the direction of where you are.
You're so far away, I can't find you.
And all I want is your touch,
And to know who you are.
