ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Long Grass

2014-11-07 1

Within the long grass where I lay
Amid the meadow by the stream,
I heard the gently flowing water
Over stones the sun did gleam.

On the hills that stood before me
Shadows from the clouds were cast,
I was alone but for my thoughts
And dreams that would forever last.

I pulled the seeds from grassy stems
And watched the birds up in the sky,
I felt the cool caressing breeze
Then saw a pretty butterfly.

I heard the bees on flowers where
The buttercups did dance and sway,
Beside the gently flowing water
In the long grass where I lay.
