I perched
on the tree outside your window
pretending to be
a bird
but fooling no one.
At my all too
human song
you flung open
your casement
like a fairy princess
& invited me into
your Holy of Holies.
Tentatively I tiptoed
across the all too slight branch
crossing the threshold
as if a gentle giant
had let me step across his finger.
I entered
your room
entered
you
entered
into
the magic realm of
our love.
A real bird
had taken my place
on the giant’s green finger
singing
delightful madrigals
whilst we
lost
(in each other)
...smiled.
