Strange at school
how all our dads had got
VCs in the war,
charging machine guns,
blowing up bridges,
shooting down Stukas,
except Philip's dad,
who (he said)
had won it twice
(which made us think he was lying) ,
and Steve's dad,
who (he said)
had got a VD instead,
but then Steve
always was
crap at spelling.
